I will always love how people make things second only to how people are. I am a metalsmith largely because metals’ object memory is incredible and the way it is formed and worked feels poetic.
“I work with material, connotation, function, and process, in order to question worth, meaning, and purpose, in hopes of finding connection or release within myself or community.”
How does your work relate to the theme connection?
“Connection of the metal links, the tension connection between metal and wood, connection to the hand and body. The jump rope is about doing the same thing over and over again to see how far you can go and that’s what life feels like. It is made to be jumped, touched, and held. It is made to be played with."
"Silver Jump Rope", Fine silver, Maplewood, ~ 9' long, 2024
What role does connection play in your creative process?
“It is my fuel. It is my inspiration both figuratively and literally. The way things fit together, the way people connect."
NYCJW24 @ UrbanGlass, Francely Flores
What connection(s) does your queerness make to the world around you?
"It’s everything."

Anything else you would like to share about this work?
This can be an important part of the process, sourcing materials, or research.
“The money used to purchase the spool of fine silver wire was acquired by participating in a medical research study. The maple wood was from a dear friend. The silver wire was wound and fused into ringlets and then double woven into an Etruscan style chain with an odd number of stitches.”
