Queer + Euphoria = [queerphoria]

Queer - umbrella term that describes sexual and gender identities other than straight and cisgender

Euphoria - a state of intense happiness and self-confidence

[queerphoria] is an exhibition that invites queer individuals into a meaningful conversation about their identity. Through this written and visual exhibition, we encourage dialogue around the difficult topics that surround the relationship between the queer and non-queer community. By bridging this gap, we hope to lay the foundation for growth, communication, and representation.

We seek to honor their hard work and intimate relationship to their studio practice and materials of choice. We want to foster an environment that invites the viewer to move past simply perceiving an object and to create deeper connections to the artists through their work. [queerphoria] is not only an exhibition, but an educational tool to shed light on queer makers and their studio practice. [queerphoria] is curated by Queer Metalsmiths’ co-founders SULO BEE and Tracey Carswell.

[queerphoria] is to be seen. [queerphoria] is to be felt. [queerphoria] is to be heard.
