queer + euphoria = [queerphoria]

queer - umbrella term that describes sexual and gender identities other than straight and cisgender

euphoria - a state of intense happiness and self-confidence

Queer Metalsmiths is excited to announce the return of [queerphoria] for an exhibition with a powerful theme: transformation. Following our virtual exhibitions of volumes 1 + 2, [queerphoria] volume 3: transformation encourages queer artists to contribute to an in-person showcase of art that explores the themes of resilience, joy, and the transformative power of creation.

By extending an invitation to forge deeper connections between communities, we delve into the essence of transformation: how joy becomes strength, resilience shapes art, and the queer experience is woven into the fabric of each creation. This exhibition contributes to the ongoing collective story of queer identity by documenting our struggles, celebrating our triumphs, and acknowledging the diversity within our community. Together, they form a narrative that is both personal and universal.

Artists are encouraged to explore the themes above or their own personal definition of “transformation”. [queerphoria]: vol. 3 seeks to showcase the spectrum of transformation in the queer community.

Join us as [queerphoria]: vol. 3 unfolds—a celebration of the beauty that arises from transformation, the strength found in resilience, and the deep connections that bind us all in the collective journey of queer identity. [queerphoria]: transformation is curated by Queer Metalsmiths’ co-founders SULO BEE and Tracey Carswell.

[queerphoria] is to be seen. [queerphoria] is to be felt. [queerphoria] is to be heard.
